   To everything there is a season,

and a time to every purpose under heaven:

a time to be born, and a time to die;

a time to plant and a time to pluck up

that which is planted;

a time to kill and a time to heal;

a time to break up and a time to build up;

a time to weep and a time to laugh;

a time to mourn and a time to dance;

a time to cast away stones,

 a time to gather stones together;

a time to embrace , and a time

to refrain from embracing;

a time to get, and a time to lose;

a time to keep and a time to cast away;

a time to rend, and a time to sew;

a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

a time to love, and a time to hate;

a time of war and a time of peace.

A SPECIAL TESTIMONY

I had always considered myself to be a Christian.  At times, when I heard someone giving their testimony and they stated that the Lord had "touched" them and had guided them, I was so envious.  Nothing like that had happened to me.

That is until 21st October 2003.

I had been in hospital and I discharged myself a day early.  Many times I had thought to myself, that after more than two years of feeling ill every day I was not getting better. Earlier in the year I had been diagnosed having osteoporosis and "asbestosis". The latter was the result of being in the Royal Navy in the 50`s.

No cure is available for this condition, it is a progressive illness.  Sure enough, it is and I had noticed I was getting out of breath much more frequently.  It then occurred to me that of all the tablets I was taking not one of them will cure me.

On 21st October I decided whenever it got too bad I would stop my medication and let nature do its own thing.  It was at this point I realised I was dying.  Immediately I felt a beautiful feeling of "peace" inside.  The acceptance of what was happening and no feeling of anger took me by surprise.  I felt wonderful.  I knew straight away that God had at last spoken to me.  That feeling of peace has remained with me ever since.

So it was that my life changed.  I know now that I am a Christian.  My relationship with God grows all the time, I talk with Him each day, He understands me and I turn to Him for advice, I sense He is with me all the way - it is so precious.

My plans have not changed, I want to die with some dignity.  I could not bear to think I was such a burden to Helen, although I know it would not matter to her because we love each other so much.  Even so, I would prefer to go in the knowledge that I did not become so dependant on others.  That’s me !

All in all, I have gone from being, like anyone else, fearful of what might happen in such circumstances to someone who accepted things as they are, without anger and for the present carrying on as usual.  We enjoy every minute of every day ~ we don’t have any worries; and when I am asked, tell them that I really am enjoying ... the best time of my life.

Thanks be to God.
